The International Conferences on Molecular Recognition as an important serious of scientific events was established and organized in 1993, 1996 and 2000 by Professor Béla Somogyi. He was a remarkable character who inspired many scientists and friends from all over the word. His character was always reflected by the wonderful atmosphere of these meetings. He was behind the heated discussions, his excellent knowledge and clear minded thinking was always a guiding force during the scientific sessions, and also in the related social events.
We lost professor Professor Béla Somogyi on 11 May 2006. The conference in 2007 was organized as a tribute to the memory of a great friend and an outstanding scientist, whom many of us respected tremendously as a friend, tutor and colleague. The conferences he organized gave great memories for a lifetime to many participating scientist, and we consider it to be an important task to keep the momentum alive.
